Unleash Them: “Adult Entertainment” by The Rising Few, bringing storytelling back! (4.5/5 from Madness to Creation)

Out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada we bring you The Rising Few, which one could describe as a world/blues music version of a group like Blessid Union of Souls meets Bruce Springsteen. On May 12th, The Rising Few released their EP entitled “Adult Entertainment” via Spotify and I-Tunes.

It is expected to get a diverse, eclectic taste of sounds and melodies when the members are from Haiti, Egypt, France, Syria, Canada, Brazil, and Armenia.  The Rising Few are composed of Karim Terouz on vocals/acoustic guitar, Andre Galamba on electric/acoustic guitars, Isaac Gesse on tambourine/trumpets/background vocals, Erik Manshuryan on alto sax/tenor sax, Andrew Sudlow on bass, Harvey Bienaimee on drums, and Phyrass Haddad on percussion.  They have created an eclectic world music meets storytelling songwriting style meets adult alternative sound with “Adult Entertainment”.

“Adult Entertainment” starts off with a world music meets Dave Matthews Band style of sound with “Try Try Again(Gonna Need A Helping Hand)”.  The acoustic guitars are lush and the percussion is subtle yet poignant in the track while Karim displays a really nice bass/jazz/songwriter style of voice that displays some emotion and poignant lyrics in the storytelling.  “Gullible” further expands the world/eclectic sound that The Rising Few possesses.  It features a reggae beat in the guitars and rhythm section colliding up with a jazz/fusion/ska section in the trumpet with soulful vocals by Karim.  “The Sinking of the I’m Alone” features a Bruce Springsteen meets a whiskey cigarette infested blues voice, and it has a jazz influence during the verses of the song.  “Big Boy Games” has a ska/alternative/punk influence.  This really showcases the eclectic power that The Rising Few possess.

The aforementioned synopsis are just a few of many reasons why people need to pick up “Adult Entertainment” by The Rising Few on May 26th!  It is absolutely an eclectic/world music album that fuses together many genres that make up the unique sound that is The Rising Few.  The music is filled with pleasure and danceable moments, and it’s a band that unites multiple genres that would serve just as well at a singer/songwriter showcase, a world music stage, as well as the Vans Warped Tour.  Here is the track listing for the EP below!  This is why the EP gets a 4.5/5 star review from me!

Karim Terouz paints darring mural in time lapse to sample new EP ”Adult Entertainment”

Montreal, QC’s THE RISING FEW are upping their game with a bigger sound and larger than life songs with the launch of their taunting new EP ‘Adult Entertainment’, a high-energy, anthemic songbook sure to resonate with all rock enthusiasts. The EP is now available as of May 12th on iTunesSpotify and all major online retailers.

In support of the EP, vocalist and illustrator Karim Terouz has put together a time lapse video painting a mural of the release’s cover artwork to background samples of their new tracks.

“‘These are some of the best random, visual motifs on the net altered to flow with the strokes and sounds of our new EP” comments Terouz.

The band is also streaming their latest single “Gullible” – https://soundcloud.com/the-rising-few/gullible2

Cairo born singer-songwriter, Karim Terouz, fronts the now expanded THE RISING FEW, a culturally diverse group of Montreal musicians from scattered points of the world (Haiti, France, Syria, Canada, Brazil, Armenia and Egypt) that seem to converge in their shared love for melodically constructed, Springsteen inflicted rock and roll storytelling.

With their new EP, ‘Adult Entertainment’, the follow up to their 2014 debut album “Sinners On St-Laurent’”, THE RISING FEW have transitioned from their beginnings as a folky local singer songwriter/backing band to stadium-worthy rock for the world’s global mainstream stage.

Delusional behavior is the main theme driving this new EP’s lyrical and musical content. Songs like “Big Boy Games” illustrate the act of treason while ‘’The Sinking of The I’m Alone’’ depicts the historical sinking of the Canadian schooner the ‘’I’m Alone’’ during the prohibition era. Other songs like the hypnotic “Try Try Again” flirts with the delusion of failure while the subtle ‘’Lights and Shadows’’ tackles melancholy in love-loss, as you cannot fight without loving. The generous EP also contains 2 additional bonus tracks.

“It was GO BIG or GO HOME! We’re all recent immigrants to Canada and in a time where cultural differences are threatened, THE RISING FEW take the chance to promote their unity, by tackling these issues and presenting them in classy, colorful, adult contemporary rock.” says Karim Terouz.
